Job Description

Overview The Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance provides strategic leadership, oversight, and management for the university’s sports compliance program. Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics, this position ensures that all 12 varsity sports programs, staff, boosters, and student‑athletes strictly adhere to all NCAA Division II, Gulf South Conference, and institutional regulations. The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the athletics’ senior leadership team. Responsibilities Direct the daily operations of the Athletics Compliance Office; develop, implement, and monitor operational policies and procedures to ensure institutional control. Develop, implement and coordinate all compliance procedures and processes for institution. Maintain knowledge of NCAA, Gulf South Conference, federal and institutional rules and regulations. Serve as member of AUM’s Eligibility Certification Committee and Compliance Team. Operate, monitor and maintain grant‑in‑aid signing system and processes with the Office of Financial Aid. Maintain the NCAA electronic or web‑based system for compliance monitoring including all NCAA Apps and Teamworks/ARMS. Prepare and submit all NCAA and GSC waivers (IEW, PTD, LSR, SAR, Medical Hardship etc.). Develop, implement and maintain the Athletic Department’s Compliance Education program for coaches, student‑athletes and campus constituents through different mediums, including DII University. Interact with departmental staff members, coaches and representatives of athletic interest to ensure compliance through education of NCAA, Gulf South Conference and institutional rules and regulations and review of relevant issues. Serve as a liaison to Admissions, Registrar’s Office, Office of Financial Aid, Office of Institutional Effectiveness and the Office of Global Initiatives. Serve as a liaison with the NCAA and Gulf South Conference with respect to rules interpretation and compliance issues. Assist in the completion of GSC, NCAA and federal reports, including but not limited to NCAA Sports Sponsorship & Demographic Reporting, Academic Portal Reporting, ISSG, and EADA. Process and maintain all transfer tracers as well as monitor and manage the NCAA Transfer Portal. Conduct PTD meetings for student‑athletes to discuss NCAA, Gulf South Conference and institutional rules and regulations. Serve as a department’s liaison to appointed Academic College Reps to manage the Progress Towards Degree process in conjunction with the official certifying officer. Declare and monitor playing and practice sessions with head coaches. Ensure practice and competition schedules have been established and monitor athletically related activity reports. Monitor recruiting calendars and activity including official and unofficial visits for the department and help guide coaches in their recruiting efforts. Evaluate and provide summer scholarship budgets and Full GIA/COA costs for upcoming year. Complete compliance reporting for department as requested by AU Office of Audit, Compliance & Privacy. Participate in Auburn related programming for compliance, youth protection policy, and other related areas. (ex Auburn Compliance Summit, YPP Training, etc) Primary contact with AU Tax Compliance for international student‑athlete scholarship taxes. Attend and participate in institutional, conference and NCAA related compliance programming including but not limited to webinars, conference meetings, and Regional Rules. Maintain active memberships and serve on committees with associated professional organizations which may include N4A, NAAC, etc. Serve as a game day administrator at competitions. Supervise graduate assistant. Represent the athletic department on various committees and at conferences. Other duties assigned by Director of Athletics.
