Under general and/or direct supervision, performs semi-skilled electrical duties required to maintain and repair campus-wide electrical systems. Installs electrical equipment and remodels existing electrical services to support campus departments. Works in support of journey level electricians while developing independent skills.

Ability to install and maintain electrical systems in the campus buildings under the guidance of a journeyman electrician.
Maintains and follows a safe, productive, cost effective, and comprehensive planned and corrective maintenance program for constant reliable operations relating to all campus-wide electrical systems, including but not limited to building, lighting, power circuit, and emergency systems by receiving work orders; communicating with the supervisor; planning, inspecting, verifying, communicating, and problem solving assigned facility electrical issues; ensuring that all work performed follows the departmental and OSHA safety guidelines, policies, and regulations; and assisting with ensuring that all facility electrical systems are in safe working order and compliant with national and local codes and regulations while exhibiting professionalism in conduct, appearance, and work practices.
Assists with the installation of conduit, electrical raceways, electrical emergency systems such as fire alarms, smoke detectors, emergency lighting, and new electrical services by remodeling and renovating building electrical systems to accommodate increased load requirements; providing power to HVAC, laboratory, and specialty equipment; and pulling wire and cable for electrical requirements while ensuring that work is in code compliance.
Maintains and is responsible for all assigned tools and equipment by adhering to a planned maintenance schedule; communicating with the supervisor, crew leader, and personnel in the Electrical Maintenance Shop; physically observing equipment; providing information in order to maintain a detail log of planned maintenance work performed; informing appropriate personnel of problems; and making recommendations regarding the planned maintenance program to provide for, as well as assist in, corrective action prior to necessary emergency action.
Takes personal initiative to gain knowledge and skills of the Asset Works (AIM), project and work order processes, computer usage, the work of other departments and service units, more complex assignments, cost and time estimating, and project management needs.
Performs administrative tasks by maintaining and completing accurate daily time sheets and records on work performed; assisting with the Facilities inventory control by requesting, receiving, and monitoring maintenance supplies, materials, and tools from Consolidated Supplies and outside vendors following established procurement policies and procedures, and with supervisory approval; and attending meetings and training events related to customer service, safety, and continuous improvement.
Performs other related maintenance duties as assigned that may arise during daily activities.
