Working as a Master Program Planner at BAE Space and Mission Systems (SMS) is an exciting opportunity to become part of a high-tech team of people developing innovative products for the Aerospace and Defense industry. You will be responsible for developing a multi-year plan that the team must follow to produce the customer deliverable. Tasks are performed under the general direction of program managers and functional managers, plus mentoring from senior Master Planner staff.

A Master Program Planner II is supporting programs with an increased understanding of industry practices and standards. They will work to develop solutions on a variety of problems of increased scope and complexity. They will work under general direction from supervision. They will have an increased level of responsibility and execution, working toward independently supporting programs of medium complexity and size. As experience increases, skills, and knowledge are evolving to permit independent support to higher tiered programs while providing key management analytical information to PMs. They have accountability for completion of projects and goals. Contacts are primarily internal to the company with some inter-organizational and outside customer contact.

What You'll Do:

  • Review the program technical requirements and work with the Program Master Planner staff to build a schedule plan that ensures requirements are met.
  • Maintain Program IMS in Microsoft Project
  • Schedule baseline development that encompasses the requirements and meets program and work center needs.
  • Maintain the schedule baseline per formal change control process as necessary.
  • Attend schedule update meetings as required, obtain schedule status and enter into program schedules.
  • Develop schedule reports and analysis that provides status to support customer deliverables as necessary.
  • Work on recovery schedule development and implementation as deemed necessary.
  • Work on what-if schedule inputs and analysis as required.
  • Support new business proposals with development of proposal schedules with input from Master Planner staff.
  • Work with Program Manager, Control Account Manager (CAM), Responsible Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to ensure scheduled work for Programs is being communicated effectively.
  • Work with the material planning group to understand program material and subcontractor requirements that are integrated into the Program schedule.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Skills and Education
  • BS/BA plus 2 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proven experience in utilizing business principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
  • Communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting, coordinating group initiatives in order to bring a project to completion.
  • Have a positive attitude and be willing to take initiative.
