Job Description
Torres & Zheng at Law, P.C. was originally founded in 2018, but rebranded in 2023. We are a business law firm dedicated to serving the legal needs of businesses, individuals, and employers in China and the United States, with exceptional expertise and commitment. We serve Chinese and American entrepreneurs in New York and New Jersey. We also serve business immigration clients in Atlanta.
Our founder recently worked at big law. He resigned from big law to reinvest the way legal services are delivered to clients. Our firm was founded by entrepreneurs and built to serve entrepreneurs. Our vision is to build a platform for entrepreneurial lawyers to build the type of future that they envision for themselves—to build the type of career that they desire; to disrupt the traditional law firm partnership structure and reinvent the client experience with client-centered lawyering by empowering our lawyers to find their “Ikagai." a Japanese concept which encourages people to do what they love and what they are good at.
We are seeking highly motivated and talented law school students to join our legal team as interns. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate and eager to gain hands-on experience in a real-world legal setting.
Optional Practical Training Program Opportunity:
· This program is for a period of three (3) months.
· The program is designed for practical learning, ideally for OPT students who have graduated and are looking to gain practical experience before returning to their home country.
· This is an unpaid internship. However, a stipend for transportation and food is available. Also, if interns work on billable matters, they may be eligible to receive payment.
· The purpose of this unpaid internship program is to receive practical, hands-on training. However, at the conclusion of the program, you will have the opportunity to meet with the partners of the firm and present to report on your contributions to the firm.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct legal research and analysis on a variety of corporate and regulatory issues.
· Draft inter-office memorandums summarizing legal findings for senior partners.
· Assist in the preparation, proofreading, and review of legal documents, including contracts, service agreements, and compliance-related filings.
· Perform due diligence checks and help update transaction checklists and timelines.
· Draft and update website content related to legal practice areas.
· Support attorneys with day-to-day project management, including client follow-up and internal coordination.
· Translate legal documents and communications (Mandarin-English), as needed.
· Attend meetings, take detailed minutes, and prepare post-meeting summaries.
· Help draft investor pitch decks and legal marketing content.
· Participate in network outreach campaigns by identifying and compiling contact lists of prospective affiliates, bankers, underwriters, and advisors, and assisting with follow-up emails.
· Engage in correspondence with working group members to confirm receipt and maintain project flow.
· Draft legal blog articles discussing recent trends, cases, or regulatory changes in corporate and business immigration law.
· Scrub and format internal and client-facing documents for clarity and consistency.
