Porter/Pressure Washer

All porters/pressure washers employed by GI Services are responsible for all assigned waste collection and pressure washing. It is expected that every porter/pressure washer employee will conduct his/her self in a professional manner at all times and perform all duties as assigned in a safe manner. The primary duty of all porters/pressure washers personnel is to perform manual cleaning assignments, operate pressure washing equipment and related company vehicle. Porters/pressure washers are responsible for the collection and hand loading of commercial, residential, city waste and the pressure washing of surfaces identified in the scope of work. Our porters/pressure washers must also be able to communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, the general public and GI Services Operations Managers.

Job Description

• Assist in picking up and transporting waste safely, according to all federal, state and local rules and regulations.
• Manual cleaning will include, but not limited to, sweeping, picking up litter, pressure washing, graffiti removal, backpack blowers, bus stop maintenance, bulky pick-up and disposal.
• Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day.
• Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts on a daily basis.
• Communicating any issues to Operations Manager, Route Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution. This includes, but is not limited to, re-routes, container sizes, training, etc.
• Ensure waste, waste water, supplies, and materials handling equipment is secured prior to operating vehicle public highway.
• Respect the property of all residential, commercial, and city customers.
• Responsible for cleaning the inside and exterior of the trucks and support equipment on a daily basis and report any observed maintenance problems.
• Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while loading and unloading vehicles.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Class C Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to operate pressure washing equipment safely and effectively.
• Ability to effectively troubleshoot and identify issues and complete in a safe timely manner.
• Attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to adhere to route schedules and assigned tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Work experience in waste, environmental services, energy, parking lot maintenance or transportation industry.

Physical:

• Bins may weigh in excess of 1000 pounds or more. Note: Bins have wheels and are designed for assisted movement.
• Continuously grasping, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, stretching, twisting, stooping, walking on uneven surfaces and lifting up to 75 lb. frequently.
• Able to work standing and/or sitting for long periods of time.
• Moving and lifting certain bulky items along with pushing and pulling carts
• Standing, walking, seeing, hearing, & smelling continuously.
• Problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, & interpersonal abilities continuously.
• Eye/hand coordination, handling, & wrist motion continuously.

Environmental:

• Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, & noise continuously.
• Works outside only.
• Working in Windy/Hot/Cold/Wet environments, working around heavy equipment, working among refuse and exposed to dusty conditions.
• Frequent exposure to traffic, being aware of all your surroundings, maintain a high level of communication with others.
• Works outside only.

Hours: Possibly 1st and 3rd: Hours may vary

Pay Range: $20.00 to $25.00
