Private Family in Old Westbury, New York Seeking a Full-Time Live-In Housekeeper Position: Full-Time Live-In Housekeeper
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm, with flexibility for occasional evenings and weekends
Salary: $40-$45/hour, depending on experience, possible health stipend, private house on property for you to reside in.
Start Date: August 2026, with flexibility for an earlier start for the right candidate
Relocation: Open to candidates who are the right fit
About the Family A warm, welcoming, and easygoing private family relocating to Old Westbury, NY is seeking an experienced Full-Time Live-In Housekeeper to join their household long term. They are looking for someone who is kind, personable, and someone they genuinely connect well with. An individual who can become a trusted and valued part of their home and daily life. The family values a relaxed environment and prefers someone with a calm, easygoing personality who naturally fits into their lifestyle.
Children: One child, 15 months old, with plans to grow their family in the future
Home Size: Approximately 10,000 sq ft residence
Pets: One friendly Golden Retriever
Household Staff: Full-time nanny currently employed
The family travels frequently throughout the year. During travel periods, the candidate will take ownership of maintaining the home, managing larger cleaning projects, and overseeing pet care while ensuring the household continues to run smoothly.
Responsibilities - Full housekeeping and daily household upkeep of a large private residence
- Laundry, ironing, wardrobe care, and clothing organization
- Prepare simple meals as needed
- Deep cleaning and maintaining high-end surfaces and finishes with care
- Household organization and upkeep of living spaces
- Care for and walk the family dog as needed
- Stay in the home and provide oversight/pet care during family travel periods
- Run household errands and drive as needed
- Coordinate and maintain overall household order and cleanliness
- Develop a comfortable and positive relationship with the family's children and be someone who enjoys being around children
- Manage larger household projects during quieter periods or while the family is away
Ideal Candidate & Personality The ideal candidate is warm, kind, and highly experienced in private household housekeeping. They should be proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable maintaining a large home with upscale finishes and furnishings. The family is seeking someone who is naturally easygoing and personable; someone they genuinely enjoy having around and can see becoming a long-term fit.
The candidate should enjoy being around children, even though childcare is not the primary focus of the role, and should be comfortable building a meaningful relationship with the family over time. Strong judgment, flexibility, discretion, and the ability to work independently are important qualities for success in this position.
Requirements - Prior experience in a similar private household housekeeping role
- Excellent professional references
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record- DRIVING REQUIRED
- Comfortable around children and interested in being part of a family-oriented environment
- Comfortable with dogs and willing to assist with pet care and dog walking
- Able to care for high-end finishes and maintain a luxury residence
- Flexible schedule and willing to occasionally assist evenings or weekends as needed
- Comfortable with occasional travel or temporary relocation (including summer time in the Hamptons if needed)
- Seeking long-term employment and household stability
